Hi,

I have a number of collections that, to my mind, are part of multiple series.

For example,

https://www.comicogs.com/comic/85462-the-life-and-death-of-captain-marvel-part-one
https://www.comicogs.com/comic/85463-the-life-and-death-of-captain-marvel-part-two

are both Captain Marvel and The Ultimate Graphic Novels Collection

Similarly for most, if not all, of the other entries in the collection.

Not only are these part of two series, but they also have two numbers. They are numbered as parts 1 and 2 of the story while having numbers in the collection as well.

Is there a plan to accomodate collected editions better?

.... maybe as character series and print series?

Same issue here:

(see notes...)

Thanks for starting this conversation, we hadn't properly considered comic editions that are part of more than one series. Do you think a tweak to the submission form which allows you to add more than one series would sufficiently handle issues and collections like this?

Hi. In the case of the captain marvel cited above I wonder whether there are two series plus the individual issues that are collected. In that case I would be wanting to enter two series, ie captain marvel and the collection. Each of these series has a number, 1 or 2 in the case of the captain and 24 or 25 for the collections.

Then we have the actual series being collected and the individual issues. NB not all collections collect only one series (as I'm sure you know)

I imagine, but don't know, that collections will require volume as well as issue number for the collected issues

I would definitely vote for yes: entering more series and related volumes/issues would be nice.
Of course that case will occur only a few times, but it will help, because other submitters might miss that their book is already in the database because they're looking in the wrong/other series results.

And for completeness - yes, that would be good.

It is now possible to add a comic to more than one series (and publishers). Let us know if you have anymore feedback on this issue.

Nice. Thanks. I've tested it out on https://www.comicogs.com/comic/85198-she-hulk-single-green-female Is that how you intended it to be used?

As an aside, the individual issues don't show up when searching for them by name (She-Hulk) in the collected issues section.

I've tried the new feature here:

https://www.comicogs.com/comic/85108-vector-vol-1
https://www.comicogs.com/comic/85110-vector-vol-2

Is it possible to add the number that this book has in the second series?

I know, this special case here is very rare, so it's not an important thing.

Yes, that seems like a good fitting use case for when you'd want to use two series.

Hmm, right, I suppose maybe this field and the search needs some work on our side. The search that powers the dropdowns there is a bit simpler than the proper search results. Its more like an autocomplete its only searching the title fields (and not series etc). For instance, to add this issue you'd have to write the title "Dead Certain" to get it to pop up.

We'll have to investigate that a bit better.

Hmm. Does it make sense for that information to go in the collects field ? (This field is also a new addition)

It might, as long as there ever would be the according entry/comic book.
I don't have this book, I just have this collection, so I can't submit the related book, and I'm not sure how long we would wait till a fellow owner might add it.

A topic to think about:
https://www.comicogs.com/series/87253-star-wars-dark-times

Vector 1 has "SW: Dark Times" as second series. If I open the "Dark Times" series, the book is shown with the 1st series (Knights of the Old Republic). Visitors might be confused, if it is not shown as "Dark Times".

The Collection Volume seems to be a mandatory field now .. if it's blanked out then there's an error on Submit ... but entering 0 removes the error.

I don't have this book, I just have this collection, so I can't submit the related book, and I'm not sure how long we would wait till a fellow owner might add it.

I'd suggest just adding this information in the notes if the individual issues have not already been added.

This has been fixed.
